About the Event

Join us on Saturday, October 26th, from 12 PM to 1 PM for an in-depth tour of the newly opened Haymarket Garden Shop and event space, led by esteemed garden designer Jon Carloftis. Jon will discuss the mission and vision behind the space, as well as the challenges and successes the team faced in bringing this vision to life.

Following the tour, Jon will host an informal lunch hour where attendees can ask questions and engage in one-on-one conversations. This event is free, and copies of Jon’s book, Jon Carloftis Fine Gardens, will be available for purchase at Haymarket.

About Jon:

Kentucky native Jon Carloftis is a renowned American gardener with over 30 years of experience. He began his career in New York City, becoming a pioneer in rooftop and small space gardening. A 10th generation Kentuckian, Jon graduated from the University of Kentucky and moved to NYC in 1988, intending to spend a summer there before returning to Lexington. However, he ended up designing and installing rooftop gardens across Manhattan for 25 years.

After purchasing an 1850s farmhouse in Bucks County, PA, Jon found a convenient base near his plant suppliers and carpenters. He has created gardens for celebrities like Julianne Moore, Edward Norton, and Mike Myers, always focusing on addressing specific challenges like views and privacy while seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.

Now back in Lexington, Jon has restored a historic 1851 home called Botherum, earning the state’s highest honor for historic restoration. His ongoing projects include renovations at the Maker’s Mark Distillery and Castle & Key Distillery, as well as garden designs for the Governor’s Mansion, EKU, the University of the Cumberlands, several horse farms, and our very own Ashbourne Farms and Haymarket.”

Now that you're family, meet the farm.
